Problem Space
I curated the user interface of this app, designed to assist users in efficiently organising their pantry while offering culinary inspiration to minimise food waste.
I identified my brand as:

Inspiring, eco-friendly, efficient, minimalist, and mindful.

To craft a moodboard, I delved into research, seeking images that not only visually embodied these adjectives but also resonated with the essence of pantry organisation and eco-friendly groceries.
Moodboard

Colours
The moodboard inspired my brand colours.

I considered a clean and structured color palette, incorporating vibrant and uplifting colours that evoked creativity and motivation, setting an inspiring tone, with earthy tones and nature-inspired greens to reflect sustainability and eco-consciousness.

Typography
I decided to used two fonts in my app.

Staatliches: a bold and impactful font that carries a strong sense of attention. With a condensed and uppercase design, it exudes a modern and industrial aesthetic, making it suitable for headlines, banners, and impactful statements.
Tsukimi rounded: a friendly and approachable sans-serif font that combines modernity with a touch of warmth.

Logo
The logo embraces a welcoming and friendly aesthetic through the use of the same fonts. A neutral tone is employed to ensure a minimalist and efficient visual presence, while accents of "vibrant and inspiring" are introduced through a thoughtful blend of horizontal and vertical elements, adding a touch of creativity and dynamism.

Wireframes
After creating a moodboard, and choosing colours and fonts, I started sketching interface elements, exploring a range of potential concepts and ideas that could become my final prototype. After sketching on paper, I turned my sketches into grayscale mid-fidelity wireframes in Figma.

Hi-fidelity prototype
I was then able to create the final hi-fi prototype of the app in Figma.

Key takeaways & next steps
This was the first app I have ever designed. It was challenging, even though I had experience with websites, to understand every detail that has to go into a mobile app. That's why it was fundamental to test the prototypes often to ensure I wasn't missing anything.
The next steps will be to test the prototypes again in order to iterate on them and create a new version of the app.
